COPPA Compliance (Students Under 13)
BrainFreeze works with schools under the “school exception” in COPPA, allowing schools to act on behalf of parents for educational purposes. Our COPPA protections ensure student data is used only for educational purposes with complete transparency, no commercial use or profiling, data retention only as long as needed, and no third-party sharing without school approval.
FERPA Compliance
We fully comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, protecting student education records with strict controls. Our FERPA safeguards include data collection only through schools with proper permissions, complete rights for schools, parents, and guardians to view, delete, or update student data, role-based access limitations, and end-to-end encryption for all student data in transit and at rest.
GDPR, CCPA & State Privacy Laws
We use proven safeguards, technology, and legal agreements to protect student data globally. For U.S. schools, we leverage the Access 4 Learning Community’s National Data Privacy Agreement. For international schools, we use approved data transfer methods, including Standard Contractual Clauses.
